Dogs bark. The sound of the water.
Peach blossoms bring thick rain.
The trees are deep. There is an occasional deer.
Wild bamboo in the green mist.
A natural spring falls from the green peak.
No one knows where he went.
I’m sad, and lean on two or three pines.
犬吠水声中,桃花带露浓。
树深时见鹿,溪午不闻钟。
野竹分青霭,飞泉挂碧峰。
无人知所去,愁倚两三松。

The moon shines bright before my bed.
There is frost on the ground.
I lift my head and look at the bright moon.
I lower my head and think of home.

You ask me why I stay on the green mountain.
I laugh but don't answer. My heart is still.
The flowing water carries the peach blossoms far away.
I have heaven and earth in the human world.

There's a pot of wine under the flowers.
I pour it for myself, there aren't any friends around.
I lift my cup to toast the moon.
Three friends: the moon, my shadow, and myself.
The moon doesn't understand that drinking is an art.
My shadow copies my movements.
But they are still my drinking buddies,
and we will enjoy the springtime before it is too late.
When I sing, the moon sticks around.
When I dance, the shadow scatters.
We were sober, and we cheered together,
Now I am drunk. Let us go our seperate ways.
We will be friends forever,
Until we meet again in the cloudy river of the sky.
